New Burnout Game in Development

"The Australian Classification Board has rated a new Burnout title from
Electronic Arts.

First reported by Gamerbytes, the title is called Burnout Crash, and a search on social network website LinkedIn reveals it will be for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
Gamerbytes notes that typically only unannounced, downloadable titles are leaked early by ratings boards, not retail games. They also suggest Burnout Crash could be centered around Burnout 3 and Burnout Revenge's Crash Mode, which was missing from Burnout Paradise.

We've reached out to Electronic Arts for comment." -IGN.com

This is awesome!!! Finally!!!

The last 2 games really took away the emphasis on crashing, with cars bouncing off each other in Revenge, a huge reduction in cross traffic, and the total elimination of buses, trucks, and crash mode in Burnout Paradise.

So, as happy as I am to hear that crashing is such an integral part of this new game that its part of the name, what I really want to see is the return to lap based racing. Paradise never had a real shot at being competitive racing game because it had NO LAPS, everything was point to point.

Whats a racing game with no laps? Not much of a racing game.

So, this Burnout game needs to get 5 things right:

1. Lap based racing mode
2. Pursuit/road rage/mode
3. Coop mode/crash mode/stunt mode
4. Get the takedowns right
5. Make the crashes/jumps/drifts epic.

If they can pull it off they will have the best racing game on the market. We dont need bikes, night driving, unbalanced cars (revenge racer), or cars that fly.

We want a fun arcade racing experience which we can play for hours at a time without getting bored. We need the ultimate boredom eliminator, the time destroyer, a place we can put our stake in the ground and call home.

2 days late MD, you had me going for a minute! ;) Huh.. not an April Fool?

I am baffled how the Multiplayer for Hot Pursuit won a Video Game BAFTA when in public matches you have to sit in a lobby controlled by nobody and wait 60 seconds whether everyone or nobody is ready and THEN have 20/30 seconds in which you have to pick a car before you can start the match. Oh and you can't choose what team to be on.

The Bafta's are the UK Oscars. British Acadamy for Film and Television Arts, few years ago they started honouring video games too.

The best multiplayer barring Red Dead because Rockstar didn't submit any games, Hot Pursuit won a category of Black Ops, Halo Reach, Assassin's Creed, Battlefield 2 and Starcraft 2!

Chronic I am seriously sceptical it's a full game though, since for the ratings board to rate it they would need a game to rate and Paradise took 3 years to make or something and since NFS and the DLC for it have they really had 5 months and made a whole new Burnout Game?

Even just a Crash Mode XBLA game would take more than that. Or EA got some other part of themselves to make most of it.

Yeah looking at Gamerbytes it suggests an XBLA title - http://www.gamerbytes.com/2011/04/index.php?page=2

Maybe as an Arcade game they can be more free with the graphics and get the mechanics of the B3 world and handling back. Then if it's popular they're halfway to making B3 Arcade.

Are people are just assuming it's from Criterion because it's an EA Burnout game, remember the Legends on the DS.

Speaking of which - Alex Ward tweet from 31st March

http://twitter.com/#!/CrashedAlex/status/53411288352694272

"Lots of blurred eyes from 3DS session. Would do a mean Burnout 3 - Takedown 3D."

So I think It's being createvly organised by them at least.

I'm just praying it's not what it sounds like, which is a downloadable crash mode game

Downloadable crash mode OK, sure, whatever I would buy that as long as the proceeds go towards developing a real Burnout game based on the gameplay style of classic Burnout.

Burnout 3 is the BEST SELLING Burnout game of all time, and one of the best selling racing games of all time, and it made EA and absolute MINT of cash because it was developed for peanuts with a recyled Tiger Woods golf engine. As Bender has said, almost all of Burnout 3's creation and inception was like some fluke, an accident, a Black Swan if you will.

So the question is, even if they went about trying to reinvent perfection, would it even be possible?

I know a few people that are sick and tired of these corporate morons that won't listen to masses. just bring back BO3 with a few new tracks and cars. So with that being said those few people i mentioned are forming a lynch mob to go take on those EA bastards and physically string some M@#$@* F&%#@*! up until they get it together. WHO IS WITH ME????
