Dragon Age & Bayonetta Hype Factor

The early word on the street is that Bayonetta and Dragon Age Origins are two games for the ages. Bayonetta has received a perfect score from Japanese gamer mag Famitsu, and Dragon Age is being called "the best RPG this decade" by some of those that have reviewed and or played it. Strong words. Bioware totally blew the marketing of Dragon Age, but I think when it finally hits the streets people are going to flip out this November. Bayonetta wont be out until next year, but Im looking forward to it being the best new action franchise since God of War on the PS2 and Ninja Gaiden on the original Xbox. Strong words indeed.

In other news, some of the luster has come off Infinity Ward's armor as they face a rebellion among a 100,000+ person army of PC gamers who refuse to buy Modern Warfare 2 because it doesnt have dedicated servers. Previous iterations of the game such as Call of Duty 4 and Call of Duty World at War had dedicated servers, like almost all PC games. In the console world, dedicated servers are a rarity, but in the PC world they have been standard for years, and the switch to a peer-to-peer Matchmaking system has PC gamers in an ire across the globe.

For some people it's not too much hassle playing on peer servers but the majority will have problems, and for the PC I can understand totally why there's so much anger, because if this happens and doesn't impact sales too much it could lead the way for future games to do likewise.

Random Publisher exec, 2010. - "Look at the savings on server costs Modern Warfare made. We can do without dedicated servers too, the internet is fast enough now."

I am impressed though Chronic that according to the steam card you've played 526 hours of games in the last 2 weeks even though there are only 168 hours in a week :)

Ben, you're missing the point... (pun intended) It's 52.6 hours if you look carefully. By the way how do you check your own steam card?

On another note, Bayonetta is being released this month in Japan. But us westerlings have to wait for the game to be translated... I mean wtf man just gimme the damn game in Japanese with subtitles because I'll probably never hear the english subs anyway...

Unless they plan to take out the japanese voices... ugh, that thought makes me cringe...
