#2

So today Rafa won his 8th French Open title - his 12th Grand Slam overall. I dont think anyone can say they are surprised that he beat fellow countryman David Ferrer in the final; the match was all but a coronation. But Id like to toss out something that I havent heard anyone mention yet.

Rafael Nadal is the 2nd greatest tennis player of all time.

With all due respect to Pete Sampras, Rod Laver, Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe - none of those guys would even be in the top 3 of todays ATP tour. The level of play is so much higher now than it was even 10 years ago.

Nadal is only 27. Is it possible he could take a shot at Federer's record and become the greatest of all time? My head says no way, never gonna happen with Djokovic lurking, and those cranky knees which are always an issue.

But my heart says that anything is possible.

All I know is, its a great time to be a tennis fan.

My daughter and I caught this on TV today. Not sure why she enjoyed watching it so much being a 5-year-old, but it was great. Had a hard time explaining to her who the shirtless, mask-wearing, flare-waving, super-fan was though... that was hilarious.

It was a sign he's nowhere near done. After so long out he gets right back on the W-Train. You're right Chronic, with so much left to come he could elevate himself even higher and he'll be pushed all the way.
