This video works on so many levels. It is satirizing both Hip Hop as a musical genre that has lost its way due to overproduction and pressure to conform, and mainstream Newscasts as essentially sound bite infommercials where discussions or dialogue never really take place - you have two people sitting across from each other having a dual-monologue.
It is satire of the most modern type: it takes the conventions and norms of two unrealted spheres and merges them through an online video service in a way which results in both looking utterly ridiculous, yet somehow it makes sense to the primitive "reptilian" part of your brain, for great comedic effect.
They have a bit of a 'thing' for Couric. I'm sure this whole thing just grew out of them plaAAAYYYYYyEEEEAAAAYYYYYing with her voooyyyyyIIIIIIIeeeeeeAAAAAAAccceee.
In other news I watched The Running Man for the first time in a decade or so and was surprised to note that Paula Abdul (pre-song career) did the choreography.
Also, turns out she choreographed that famous lifesize electronic keyboard dancing scene in BIG.
It was 80's cheese but one that matures well. All the crappy one liners were there.
(Arnie battles with Buzzsaw and eventually forces him to chainsaw himself in the chest)

"What happened to Buzzsaw?"
"Ahhh, he split"
That video is brilliant...
And Running Man is one of my favorite movies... It's soo cliché it's wrong, but it still manages to be entertaining...
